Performing Arts & Theater
Northern Kentucky is no stranger to the theater and performing arts scene with several fantastic venues scattered across the area. Multicultural contemporary to classical theater and everything in between can be found and enjoyed in Northern Kentucky’s theater culture.
Over the bridge in Cincinnati is the famed Aronoff Center, where you can find anything from comedy shows to beautiful ballets. There are also many good restaurants close by for dinner before or after a show.
What was once a Carnegie Library in Covington is now home to both a theater and an art gallery. It’s the only multidisciplinary art venue in Northern Kentucky. Fans of classical music will love the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. They aim to make classical music more fun, accessible, and affordable to the NKY area and they certainly succeed.
The Cincinnati Playhouse was one of the first regional theaters in the United States, meaning it is a professional theatre company that produces its own seasons. This fosters creativity by inspiring and cultivating new playwrights, new actors, and new directors.
The Know Theater keeps things lively and unique with their off-beat alternative theater style. Know Theater is also known for their bar and lounge area and their great Over The Rhine (OTR) location. OTR is also home to the Cincy Fringe Festival, which the Know Theater produces. The Fringe Festival is best described as a two-week celebration of theatre, art, music, film, and dance.
When it comes to Northern Kentucky’s theater life, there is something to inspire everyone.
