The Kentucky Faith Trail

Newly launched is the Kentucky Faith Trail, a self-guided trail that leads you though 11 of Kentucky's religious attractions. The trail highlights places, landscapes, architecture, and family friendly fun from the settler times up to today.

Northern Kentucky is home to 4 of the attractions on the Faith Trail: St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church, The Creation Museum, and The Ark Encounter.

The Ark Encounter

Complete with life-like animals, historical exhibits and lots of family-friendly fun, the one-of-a-kind Ark Encounter is a gem among Northern Kentucky's endless array of attractions.  It's located on a beautiful 300-acre pastoral Kentucky setting and is the largest timber-frame structure in America. In addition to the Ark itself, your admission comes with the Ararat Ridge Zoo, Carousel, the Children's Zoo and playground. The Creation Museum

The Creation Museum, featuring exhibits designed by a former Universal Studios creative director, is housed in a state-of-the-art 75,000 square-foot museum. Included in admission are the museum’s Special Effects Theater, botanical gardens, petting zoo and more. Other features like the Stargazer’s Planetarium and the exhilarating Screaming Raptor Zip Lines can be added for an additional charge.

St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption

St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington is a not to be missed. This historic structure began construction in 1894 and was elevated to the rank of a minor basilica by Pope Pius XII in 1953, one of 85 in the United States. The soaring gothic architecture was inspired by the design of the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France. Inside, the design was modeled on the basilica of St. Denis, near Paris. The Cathedral is home to one of the largest holdings of religious relics in the United States - over 350 pieces.

Mutter Gottes Kirche aka Mother of God Church

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, Mother of God Roman Catholic Church is another breathtaking, historical church housed in Northern Kentucky. Created in the style of Italian Renaissance Revival architecture, the church's prominent features include 2 two-hundred foot tall bell towers and an one-hundred foot dome. The stained glass windows were imported from Munich. Other features include large painted canvas murals, ,ceiling frescoes, and several hand carved items including the altar.
