According to “Forbes” magazine, some 40 percent of Americans make New Year's resolutions and just eight percent keep them. This year, I am going to be one of the eight percent that stays on track with these three simple resolutions:
Take at least one stay-cation – this can be a weekend or a week, but I vow to spend some measure of time enjoying the area in which I work and live, including acres of parks, shopping local small businesses, and so much more.
- Try something new – from German cuisine like Schnitzel to activities like zip-lining, I am committed to trying a few new things this year.
- Volunteer – these opportunities can present challenges and opportunities to grow as each new experience is a chance to discover more about myself while gaining valuable insight and knowledge (if I don't know how to do something, this is one of the best environments in which to learn).
It’s a short list, but I am trying to keep it simple in 2017. Today I am making a list of the places I want to go and things I want to try so that as I do, I can check them off, track my success, and share these adventures. Here's to a fabulous 2017!
