Jerry’s Jug House and Greyhound Tavern Join The B-Line® as a Toast to the End of National Bourbon Heritage Month
Bourbon-forward bar and restaurant added to Northern Kentucky’s self-guided bourbon experience
COVINGTON, Ky. (September 27, 2024) –The B-Line®, Northern Kentucky’s self-guided bourbon experience, raises a glass in celebration of the addition of two new stops: Jerry’s Jug House in Newport, Ky. and Greyhound Tavern in Fort Mitchell, Ky.
“Kentucky bourbon brings more than 2 million visitors a year to the Commonwealth and generates a huge economic impact for our region,” said meetNKY President and CEO, Julie Kirkpatrick. “The B-Line is the northern entry point to bourbon country and serves as an excellent way for anyone to enjoy our bourbon culture and heritage by offering not only 7 official Kentucky Bourbon Trail distilleries to visit, but also several bourbon-focused bars and restaurants.”
Launched in 2018, The B-Line® is Northern Kentucky’s official collection of bourbon bars, restaurants and distilleries aimed at introducing millions of bourbon-curious visitors to the northern starting point of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®, which hit 2.5 million visitors in 2023. The new additions to The B-Line® bring the number of establishments throughout Covington, Newport, Independence, Sparta, Augusta and Maysville, Ky., to 27. A full list of participating establishments can be found on The B-Line’s website.
“One thing I love most about being a business owner, is serving the community and Jerry’s has been a part of the Newport community for more than 93 years,” said owner of Jerry’s Jug House, Stuart MacKenzie. “When we purchased Jerry’s our goal was to stay authentic to its Jug House roots, while adapting to modern trends so we could be part of this community another 93 years. Being added to The B-Line will help introduce us to thousands of new visitors to the area each year.”
There are seven strict criteria new stops along the self-guided tour have to agree to in order to be a part of The B-Line®. These include things like fostering a culture around bourbon through continuing education and stocking certain types of bourbon. Restaurants must have at least 50 labels of bourbon (with a preference for Kentucky Bourbon), while bars must stock at least 100. Weekly bourbon-infused food and drink specials are also a requirement. For bars, they must also host bourbon-related events and offer specialty flights.
“At Greyhound Tavern we believe home is where your heart is and our hearts are in great food and fine dining,” said President of Greyhound Tavern, Tyler Behrens. “And, because we’re located in Kentucky it goes without saying that bourbon is a large part of that dining experience. We’re excited to be added to The B-Line and have a chance to welcome thousands of new visitors to the area and give them a unique taste of our southern hospitality.”
Distilleries must be a member in Good Standing with the Kentucky Distillers Association and be part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®. Full details on qualifying for The B-Line® can be found on meetNKY’s website.
