Tours depart from Moerlein Lager House, at 1 p.m. on most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer. The tour begins with the stories of Cincinnati’s nefarious origins, the commercial brewery and notorious Irish “Rat Town” that once inhabited the ground where the Lager House now resides, and the ground-breaking construction of the Roebling Bridge. Attendees then take a brief bus ride to historic Over-the-Rhine where they will hear how German immigration, breweries, and Cincinnatians’ long love affair with good beer helped shape and define the city. The tour includes a trip into a sub-basement lagering cellar owned by the Gerke Brewery. Walk-ups are welcome, but attendance is limited. Advance purchases are highly recommended and can be made at www.queencityhistory.com. Personalized tours for private groups are also available. Contact Michael Morgan to discuss your group's needs.
