Kentucky's second largest local historic district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and can transport you back to another time, to the late19th century when Newport reached a height of population and growth as a streetcar suburb of Cincinnati. Today, it is a thriving neighborhood which features hundreds of American Four Square, Queen Anne, Victorian and Italianate houses. While visitors are welcome to park in the neighborhood and stroll on their own, several times a year East Row sponsors home tour events which typically feature glimpses inside or into the backyards of 6 or more beautifully renovated and landscaped homes. See the events calendar for December's Victorian Christmas Tour and Tea and June's Garden Walk, and other tour offerings. There is a public parking lot on Washington Ave, between 5th & 6th - a good place to park and start exploring - headed toward the east.
